Another month, another LIY Team Try-On! If you’ve been following along for any length of time, you might already know how this works. We [the LIY Team] select a retailer each month and see what kind of goodness we can find– bringing you a full review, of course. This month, we landed on Athleta. It’s no secret Erin [Claire here, heyyo!] has been an Athleta fan for quite some time. As for the LIY Team, you ask? We were excited to see what all the hype was about. Spoiler Alert: I think it’s safe to say we’re officially sold. Now will our yoga pants be making it to a yoga class? That’s to be determined. But you better believe they’ve got a promising future full of Target runs. ps. [before we dive in] you can find all LIY Team Try-Ons here!

Jacket [size down if in between, wearing in small in Rosario Pink] // Tee [size down if in between, wearing in small – could have done XS] // Leggings [true to size, wearing in small in Volcanic Violet] // Shoes [true to size] // Carry on bag // Luggage

Whoa. Whoever first told me that Athleta items are some of the best on the market wasn’t lying. If there are two words that come to mind when it comes to all things Athleta it’s quality + comfort. I wore this head to toe look for an all-day travel day to St Kitts this past weekend and I was sad to take it off after 16 hours of wear. That’s how good it all is. I love that this jacket has some unique details like cinched arms that you can control the look of and a stowaway hood that’s there if you want it. The zipper pockets were large enough to store my phone and passport which made traveling a breeze! Next up, this shirt. If you haven’t felt the material that this tee is made out of, you need to stat [warning: you’ll be tempted to buy in every color]. It does run a little long which is perfect to rock with leggings – I gave mine a little knot to fancy it up slightly 😉 Last but not least, the leggings aka BUTTER. Super flattering, smoothing, and the best part – the waist didn’t fold over at ALL. They are worth every dollar and stay great wash after wash. Long story short, this entire outfit is the only outfit you’ll ever need, whether you have a long travel day in store, heading to your fave yoga class or just like to look chic will running errands.

Tank [true to size, wearing XS in Black] // Leggings  [true to size, wearing XS in Laurel Olive] // Shoes [True to Size, wearing 5 in Grey]

Wow, I am so impressed with these leggings! I suspect that they might even be made with real butter due to their amazing buttery soft quality! My favorite thing about them though is the incredible support and smoothing qualities! They hold me together in all the right places! And to top it off — pockets, a girl’s best friend! I paired these classic leggings with this comfy and casual tank that works for light workouts as well as lounging around the house. The tank is pretty simple, but I love the Laurel Olive color and the raised side seam detail. It’s also made of 100% organic cotton, so that’s another plus!

Athleta Inclination Moto Tight In Powervita [True to Size, wearing in Petite M in Arbor Olive] // Conscious Crop in Powervita D-DD [Wearing in L in Arbor Olive] // Gibson X Living in Yellow Mary Off the Shoulder Top [True to Size, wearing in M in Black] // Adidas Edge Lux 3 [True to Size, wear in Grey/Gold Metallic/White]

What magic did they make these leggings out of? Seriously SO SOFT and cozy while still feeling breathable! I love the moto detail, especially when wearing a color other than black because I feel like it breaks up the legging and makes your legs look even smoother than the fabric already does. My other favorite feature of these is the abundance of pockets. I love leggings with a legside pocket for stashing my phone, and these have a bonus pocket in the center of the back waistline. I prefer the pocket in the back rather than at the hip on the waistline because when bending during exercise, anything stored on the hip can be so uncomfortable.

As a 34G, you can imagine that finding a sports bra is a bit of a challenge for me. I decided to give this one a try. Since they don’t make my normal size, I rolled the dice on ordering the biggest size available to see what would happen. It fits comfortably and offers the feeling of safe containment without feeling like my rib cage is being crushed. This bra is not rated for high impact, and I would definitely not recommend it for running. But – it’s a very comfortable option for lower impact exercise!

Cloudlight Rib V Neck Top [True to size, wearing in XS Regular for 5’2” in Bright White] // Trekkie North Joggers [Size up if in between, wearing in 2 Petite for 5’2” in Cognac Brown] // Nike Downshifter Sneakers [true to size, wearing in White Wolf Grey]

I don’t know what magic material this top and these pants are made out of but I want ALL my clothes to be made with it! You all weren’t kidding when you said Athleta was amazing quality! I was a bit skeptical due to the price but the minute I put this outfit on, I was sold! This top is buttery soft, not see through [shocked], and comfortable enough to run errands but perfect for a little workout! And these joggers were love at first sight and it was a match made in heaven when I put them on! They are beyond comfortable, great stretch [especially if you are pear shape] and the pockets didn’t make my hips look extra wide!! I have officially become a lover of Athleta thanks to you ladies!

Cropped Camo Workout Top [Size up if in between, wearing small] // 7/8 Elation Camo Legging [Size up if in between, wearing small]

I have never owned Athleta before but had heard all the rage! I would say I am pretty picky about my leggings, I want them tight but comfortable, stylish yet functional, thin but not see-through, and most importantly I want them to STAY. IN. PLACE! Nothing is worse than constantly hiking your leggings up! So, when I slipped into this little Athleta number, I was PLEASANTLY surprised! I really love how these leggings have a nice and structured waistband while the rest of the legging is soft, breathable, thin, and just fits well all around! My favorite part about this crop tank top is the built in sports bra! Keeps you secure while moving around!

Lauren

Baja UPF Jacket [TTS, wearing medium in Vermillion] // Speedlight Heather Tank [TTS, wearing large for the bump, but could have done medium]  // Gap Maternity Active Leggings [TTS] // Adidas Shoes

Getting back into an active routine after first trimester sickness has been harder than I thought it was going to be, but I’m doing what I can! Step one: cute new workout clothes. That always helps, am I right? 😉 When I saw this tank that looked like it had a lot of built-in stretch, I had high hopes that it would be great for pregnancy and after! And from what I can tell, it’s going to be just that! It has some SERIOUS stretch to it, and is super long! I layered it with this lightweight orange jacket which is a similar material to the tank! It’ll be great for getting outdoors this Spring [or ya know, the daycare drop off line]! And I love the hemline and hood!

Claire

Essence Twist Top [TTS, wearing medium] // Trekkie North Jogger [TTS, wearing 8 regular for 5’5″ in Mountain Olive] // Sneakers [TTS]

If I’m being completely honest, I’m a Lululemon girl at heart. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Athleta, but had never owned any of their products. I was excited to see what all the hype was about! While I wasn’t super sold on this tee [seemed a little expensive for a basic white tee, but would probably purchase another one if they went on sale] I absolutely LOVE these joggers. the material has a little bit of stretch, while still looking cute and put-together. I don’t think I would wear the joggers for a workout, but they are perfect for travel or Target runs. It’s official, I’m an Athleta fan!
